G.I. Joe: Retaliation
was a sequel and soft reboot to G.I. Joe:
The Rise of Cobra. This movie continued some of the plotlines of
the previous movie, but dropped many of the ancillary characters and instead
focused on Roadblock, portrayed by series newcomer Dwayne "The Rock"
Johnson, and his team. Originally scheduled to be released June 29,
2012, the movie was delayed nine months for conversion to 3-D. The
film finally reached theaters on March 28, 2013.
Note that the
announcement of the movie's delay occured on May 23, 2012, five days before
the scheduled release of the Retaliation toys.
