Full Details

Steeler sits in a spare room to himself "I will never be GI Joe." He remembers much of his field training, practicing firing his machine gun, hand to hand combat and times spent hanging out at bases all pre-GI Joe recruitment. His thoughts continue along the lines of that he pushed himself harder and became the best and humor rumors about an elite group above Delta force. Then one day on a German Air Force base pre-Joe Steeler meets Duke, no words are exchanged only a salute. And Steeler feels intimated and he really hated feeling that way.

So as the leader of his squad, he pushed them hard in an attempt to get noticed by this elite group. A surprise attack cuts off his squad from a retreat. He drags a injured squad mate, Dan, to safety & the medic, Willard, under fire. Willard is then killed and large explosion knocks out Steeler. He is picked up by a Cobra Viper.

He has never heard of Cobra before he has very unpleasant conversation with Interrogator and is then introduced to Cobra Commander, Destro & Major Bludd in person. He remembers what they did for him, "They showed me something no one ever had before. Recognition. They saw who I was, saw what I could do and they appreciated it. They needed me.".

He was released and the video footage of his final fight was discovered by Army Intelligence and he was awarded a silver star then GI Joe came calling but after Cobra recognized him first. But what Steeler really wants is to drive a tank. He has asked multiple times to be transferred to Armor and away from being foot soldier. But it has always been denied. He feels he is more important to Cobra than GI Joe.

He is meant to be on the winning side. So he walks into main communication area where a newly installed scanner detects a secret blackout box device he is crring its developed by Cobra engineers to connect with any closed system communications array & broadcast on a scrambled & undetected network. As the Fobbit soldier takes it from Steeler he tells him it was given to him by another Fobbit soldier named Clockspring.

Later the Fobbit who discovered the device is found dead by apparent suicide in his bathtub having slit his wrists. Firewall & Chameleon are investigating another suicide. Which they both believe is not suicide. But based from his computer activity previous to his "suicide" he erased the last 10 minutes of footage and then cleaned up before "killing" himself. Firewall now has proof that a Cobra mole is in her installation and she is mad. She puts the installation on immediate lock down, total communication blackout, assigns protection to Erika Le Tene, aka Chameleon, aka former Cobra officer.

Later, in an office Firewall introduces Lady Jaye to Chameleon almost immediately they don't get along. Firewall orders them to get along and walks off to make her report.

In the air in a private jet, Error 404 (Cobra's computer hacker) informs Major Bludd that the phone is ringing (Steeler is calling) but Bludd tells him to let it ring. Tomax busts in explaining that he has figured out Major Bludd's plan to become Cobra Commander by having a man on the inside of GI Joe. Bludd dismisses Tomax but is still very bothered by the discovery.

Back in the locked down installation, Steeler is preparing for a combat situation. He discards all of his Cobra gear in a bio-hazard disposal furnace and he is ready to make an exit.

At a train station, Blacklight exits and kicks a man off the nearest public phone. He dials a number then puts up a device to the phone that plays music, its clears the line so he can connect his computer, using an encryption, to call Tomax, who is still on the plane with Major Bludd. Tomax is talking to a Senator in charge of a committee investigating the escape of a prisoner (See GI Joe Cobra Civil War #3) and who should be held accountable for the arrest and detainment by a military group that was illegal. Blacklight's call comes and Tomax hangs up on the Senator. Blacklight is asking for specific bio-metric data. He plans to help Tomax and is already in position in Washington DC.
