Full Details

Somewhere near the Darklonia/Borovian border, Dr. Mindbender is facing a time crunch. Cobra has negotiated with Darklon to use his improvised airstrip. Mindbender gives a Strato-Viper a briefcase full of money as further incentive for him to take the mission and to get moving before Darklon’s deal to use the runway in Darklonia runs out. He tells the Strato-Viper that there are two Terror Dromes and a Cobra helicopter ready to retrieve him if he has to ditch. The Strato-Viper cockily replies that he never ditches.

The Strato-Viper taxis onto the Darklonia/Borovia Highway of Peace and Solidarity, kicks in the afterburners and takes off.

At the Pit, the takeoff of the Night Raven is detected. Duke, Lady Jaye and Mainframe determine the course of the Night Raven will take it over Northern Canada. The X-19 Stealth is readied on the Pit’s catapult. Ghost Rider boards the plane. Duke tells him that a Tomahawk will follow him but will be at least five hours behind. Ghost Rider replies he does not plan on getting shot down or getting hypothermia and freezing to death. Duke notices his cockiness but Lady Jaye excuses it because he always gets the job done and follows orders. As the Stealth blasts into the sky Lady Jaye mentions that any rescue mission if he goes down will have to be cleared through their counterparts in Ottawa. Duke says Ghost Rider knows that and he still went anyway.

At the Silent Castle the Stealth launch is detected. Cobra Commander gives the Night Raven clearance to shoot it down. Arctic Terror Drome 27 then assumes control of the mission.

The Strato-Viper asks Terror Drome 27 to relay the message that he thanks Cobra Commander for the briefcase full of money.

Ghost Rider arrives and cannot spot the Night Raven on radar because he is fling NOE (Nap of the Earth.) The Stealth pops up to a higher elevation and does a look down radar scan. This gives the Strato-Viper the stealth’s position. Ghost Rider sees two blip on his radar. One is a Transcarpathian airbus on a course to Montreal the other is the Night Raven. This maneuver lets the Night Raven see the plane on radar. He locks missiles onto the Stealth X-19 and fires two heat seekers.

The Stealth outruns the missiles and breaks the lock they have on him. Unfortunately the missiles have now locked onto the airliner. Mainframe lets Ghost Rider know. The skilled pilot moves into position and the missiles lock back onto the Stealth. The missiles hit their target. A young girl on the passenger plane tells her mom there are fireworks outside. The girl’s mother is oblivious.

Instead of ejecting Ghost Rider locks his weapons onto the NIght Raven and scores two hits. The Strato-Viper calls mayday as his plane takes the damage. A Cobra rescue chopper takes off and heads to the scene.

The Strato-Viper chases after Ghost Rider in his damaged aircraft. He fires his guns and hits the Stealth. The Stealth is a goner. Ghost Rider hits his air brakes and the Night Raven overshoots him and flies past. Using his own guns, Ghost Rider shoots and hits the Night Raven. Both planes go down into the cold.

The Strato-Viper leaves the Night Raven and heads to the wreckage of the Stealth X-19. Gun drawn, and briefcase in his other hand, he pries open the cockpit to find it empty.

Twenty minutes later the Cobra chopper arrives and lands. Ghost Rider, in the Strato-Viper’s uniform knocks out the helicopter gunner when he realizes that there is blood on the Strato-Viper uniform.

Ghost Rider approaches the pilot, gun drawn. He hijacks the chopper and tells the pilot to fly to the weather station at Nunavet. He also lets the pilot know that he can fly the chopper if need be and not to try anything.

A radio transmission from Arctic Terror Drome 27 congratulates the Strato-Viper on a successful mission. The Night Raven was downgraded to test the capabilities of the Stealth. The transmission goes unanswered. The Raven pilot is laying in the snow just outside the X-19, nearly naked and motionless, a darkened patch of snow under his head.
