Full Details

Two VAMPS drive through the tunnel connecting the PIT to the new portion of the PIT. Jane, Hawk, Mainframe and Lady Jaye drive until they reach a large door that Jane opens.

Above them, Spirit leads Joe and Wild Bill to a bluff. Colton is amazed by Spirit’s ability to find it. Spirit explains that goats avoid the area because grass does not grow there and that was what lead him to explore further.

Now on foot Jane leads the Joes past two older helicopters. She says they will update the vehicles as they reach an elevator platform.

On the surface the goats scatter and run as the bluff opens up to reveal a helipad. Colton questions Spirit as to why if he knew about the bluff, why didn’t he say anything. He replies “It was supposed to be a secret wasn’t it?” Hawk states he knew about the facility but did not know how extensive it was. Pillboxes and missile systems pop out of the desert floor. Then the hidden runway is revealed. The stealth launches and provides cover for two approaching transport planes.

A sports car speeds onto the base, Jinx is at the wheel and Pale Peony is with her. They drive right into the PIT passing several Joes along the way. They are met by the two VAMPS and Hawk tells Jinx to follow them to the new command center.

The pair tell Hawk what they discovered at Revanche Robotics and the trouble they ran into in Olliestan. Hawk tells them they ran into the same type of robots in Sierra Gordo. (issue193-199) He says they will now have bases in San Francisco and the former PIT in Ft. Wadsworth.

Duke and Sneak Peek are dressed in their Class A uniforms. They go to St Ignatius Managed Home Care. This is the facility where Sneak Peek’s mother lived. She has passed away and they are there to take care of the arrangements. Unfortunately Sneak Peek was declared dead a long time ago and this complicates matters. The commotion at the receptionist’s desk cause Gilbert Morrison to leave his office to investigate.

Inside Morrison’s office, Duke sees that Morrison was special ops. He subtly talks to Morrison and Morrison begins to see the bigger picture. He realizes that Sneak Peek was declared dead most likely for national security. Morrison does not ask any questions and signs a blank release form. He says he will deny meeting them, but is glad he did.

In San Francisco, Muskrat, Long Range, and Alpine look over Storm Shadow’s former stomping grounds. It has been taken care of remarkably well, and recently. Budo appears out of nowhere, surprising the three Joes.

In the PIT, Rock ‘N Roll visits Roadblock in the infirmary. Thinking he is being thoughtful, he brings some fried egg sandwiches. He leaves. Roadblock tells Hawk who is standing behind a curtain that he can come out. Hawk tosses the sandwiches into the growing pile on the next bed.

In New York City, Scarlett and Snake Eyes are taking a ferry ride. She gently touches his hand as they remember the time they got into a fight on the Staten Island ferry so many years ago. (issue 36)

At the Ft. Wadsworth Chaplain’s Assistants Motor Pool Stalker and Steeler discuss their new cover. Necrotic Armaments Defense Administration or NADA for short.

A crew from Hamilton arrives to hook up the motor pool to the power grid. They begin to work and find a plaque on the wall listing the Chaplain’s Assistants who were KIA. They say it looks like two names were erased. Then Steeler borrows a cloth and cleans the plaque. He says they should have polished that first.

Snake Eyes, Scarlett and Clutch arrive at the motor pool. Scarlett asks Stalker if they have gone downstairs to take a peek. Stalker says they have been putting that off. Too many ghosts and memories. She replies it is always best to move on. Stalker has an unusual look in his eye.

To be continued.
