Full Details

In the Lemuria, the GI Joe underwater base, Scarlett is talking with Shipwreck and Polly about the new GI Joe mission to save the world from any number of the crazy alien threats including Dire Wraiths, Transformers and large underground monsters. Shipwreck thinks some studying of them might help before just attacking them. Roadblock arrives as Shipwreck leaves. Scarlett gives Roadblock command of a mission to go underground to hunt the monsters they discovered.

Grand Slam has created Mole Pods, underground drilling machines that can get them to the monsters. Rock ‘n’ Roll compliments Grand Slam, but he rebuffs the comments with hurtful jokes.

Roadblock’s team includes Salvo and Doc Jr, Carla Greer, who is a natural born hybrid human/ Dire Wraith and Transformer Skywarp, a full member of the Joe team, is also attached. And Joes Tunnel Rat and Spirit are introduced to Salvo as they load weapons and explosives. Spirit approaches Rock ‘n’ Roll, he expresses his concern for him cause sees there is something growing in him and he reassures him that he is his friend and will support him.

Salvo, who is actually bigger then Roadblock, is very concerned with having Doc on the mission. Roadblock assures her that she is a Joe and will do her job.

Later deep underground, they have exited the Mole Pods and Spirit is analyzing the area, when he discovers a signature. Out for some rocks come two small knee high furry creatures with horns. Doc steps up to analyze them. When she hears, and only her, hears a loud whistle, she realizes it’s coming from the furry creatures and it’s like magic. The creatures expand to Transformers size creatures.

Salvo, Skywarp and Rock ‘n’ Roll all open fire on what Skywarp calls the Fatal Fluffies. The team work between Skywarp and Rock ‘n’ Roll allows him to get on the head and fire his gun directly in to the brain of the Fatal Fluffy. The other Fluffy almost kills Salvo, but the much smaller Tunnel Rat saves her. Roadblock orders a full scale flanking attack just as the last one shrinks back to cub size.

Rock ‘n’ Roll was able to kill the other one which stays large. As he touches his kill, he is affected by the magic spells put on him by Crystal Ball. Rock ‘n’ Roll himself transforms into a human version of a Fatal Fluffy with horns and red eyes. He doesn’t attack but punches into the ground releasing a purple flame. Skywarp walks up and starts talking to him.

In the Lemuria, Scarlett is putting together another mission, when she receives from Dial Tone several messages: first a Navy submarine is requesting to dock, Snake Eyes and Helix have taken a SHARC without permission and they have lost contact with Roadblock’s team.

With a Joe team on the way to Johannesburg, a Cobra Anarchist riot in Calgary that needs the Joes, the Joe team is running out of active team members. Dial Tone says Stalker, Bullhorn, Hardball, Dusty and Stretcher are available. Scarlett doesn’t like the mix but authorizes Dial Tone to send them.

As they greet the Navy, in walks Duke, who left GI Joe to work as a mercenary ( See Volume #4) and he asks Scarlett to release the prisoners that she has been holding without trial cause he is there to take them one way or another.
