S.P. Forces (G.I.Joe Bootlegs)
Close Up of Loose Figures
Because of their popularity, G.I.Joe action figures were often imitated by foreign toy companies, trying to cash in on G.I.Joe's popularity. The results were... interesting, to say the least.
Pictured above are another set of brazen and obvious bootlegs. Titled S.P. Forces and based on the Real American Hero figures that were released in 2000, these figures are direct inferior copies of the 3 3/4" G.I.Joe figures. Note that even the packaging is very similar to the G.I.Joe artwork that was used on the 2000 and 2001 figures - the text on the back of the packaging even references "Real American Hero".
While the copycat molding did an capable job with the figure stands and accessories, the complex articulation is completely lost on the figures themselves. The figures were cheaply produced - poorly articulated and sloppily painted. Note that the producers of these bootlegs even attempted to modify the molds slightly - such as removing Chameleon's glasses, giving General Tomahawk an eye patch, and giving Snake Eyes eyes.
