Tunnel Rat was first released as part of the sixth series (1987). He was also available in 1988 and was discontinued in 1989.
Webmaster's Note:
It was common practice at Hasbro among the toy makers to sculpt action figures to look like real life individuals - including employees of Hasbro.
Tunnel Rat was sculpted to be Larry Hama - writer for Marvel Comics' G.I.Joe comic books from 1982 to 1994.
Accessories
Tunnel Rat came with a black rifle, a dark green backpack, a dark green bag, and two dark green flashlights.

Tunnel Rat's body is completely original - all new body parts.
Tunnel Rat's entire body and mold were re-used in 1988 for the Night Force Tunnel Rat (v2), in 1990 for Super Sonic Fighters Tunnel Rat (v3), and in 2004 for another Night Force Tunnel Rat (v5).
The arms were re-used in 1994 to create Dial-Tone (v4).
International Releases
In the United Kingdom and Europe, Tunnel Rat was recolored and released as Tiger Force Tunnel Rat.
