Outback was first released as part of the sixth series (1987). He was also available in 1988 and was discontinued in 1989.
Leftover Hasbro stock of this figure was packaged with new accessories and sold at the 1992 G.I.Joe Convention.
Outback came with a tan web belt, a tan survival backpack, a black Heckler & Koch G3 rifle, and a green flashlight.

Outback was an instructor at both the Survival School and the Jungle Warfare Training Center. He has had extensive experience in Central America and may or may not have participated in clandestine operations in the Mid East. Most people are intimidated by wilderness:/ 1: the complete absence of the hand of man. Not Outback. He believes in being part of his environment, not its adversary!

The 1992 G.I.Joe Convention release came with the green flashlight, a white rifle, and a brown machine gun.
Outback's body is completely original - all new body parts.
Outback's entire body and mold were re-used for the 1988 Night Force Outback (v2). The chest, arms, waist, and legs were later re-used to create Big Brawler (2001).
Note that there is a hole on the outside portion of Outback's left leg. It was used to hold the flashlight accessory.
In the United Kingdom and Europe, Outback was recolored and released as Tiger Force Outback.
In Brazil, a "Sonic Fighters" version of Tiger Force Outback was released as Forasteiro with slightly different colors and different accessories.
