Cobra Commander (v44) was released in the first wave of figures for the Pursuit of Cobra line in 2010. He was considered a "chase" figure for this wave.

Cobra Commander (v44) was originally intended as a mail-in figure for the Rise of Cobra line in early 2010 with different packaging and accessories. This version of the figure was eventually released in 2011 as an exclusive to the Official G.I. Joe Collectors' Club.

For his initial retail release, Cobra Commander came with a black and red jacket, a black assault weapon, a black pistol, a red and gray gonfalon, and a black display stand.

For the G.I. Joe Collectors' Club release, Cobra Commander came with a black and red jacket, a black assault weapon, a red and gray gonfalon, a red H.I.S.S. Tank drone with two black treads, two black machine guns, and a gray missile, and a black display stand.

Filecard Information

The deviously brilliant leader of Cobra has created the Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank, a dangerous weapon that will help him expand his empire. He is prepared for battle in a mask that uses sunlight to power his cybernetic armor. As the showdown with the G.I. Joe Team begins in the desert, he sends in his new tanks for the final attack. MISSION EQUIPMENT: M.I.A.W. ( Multi-Function Individual Assault Weapon )


The G.I. Joe Collectors' Club version of Cobra Commander came in a black and gray mailer box, a different card back and filecard, a different display stand, and the six part H.I.S.S. Tank drone. The black pistol of the retail release was not included.

Body Construction

Cobra Commander (v44) was created using the body of Cobra Commander (v43) (2009) with a new head.

Versions of Cobra Commander

"The Doctor" represents Cobra Commander before adopting the title in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. "Old Snake" represents a future version of Cobra Commander from Sunbow's The Transformers animated series.
