Cobra (v2) was released in Cobra Battle Pack #1, a five pack which also includes Cobra Commander (v24), Destro (v14), Storm Shadow (v21), and Baroness (v9) to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. The set also included a G.I. Joe Logo music box.
He was later released individually carded in 2009.

Variations
The Battle Set box has two different plastic insert versions, resulting in different poses of the figure in box.
When individually carded, Cobra came with a different sniper rifle and display stand.
Body Construction
Cobra (v2) was created using all new molds. The feet were shared with Duke (v23) (2007).
Versions of Cobra
In 1998, Cobra was renamed "Cobra Trooper," and in 2004, he was renamed "Cobra Infantry Trooper." So while there are several names, they are all based on the "Cobra" trooper.
