SNAKE EYES (v16)
Series: Nineteen (2003)
Snake-Eyes (v16) was released as an exclusive pack-in premium with the G.I. Joe: The Original Mini-Series released by Kid Rhino in 2003. The production run for this figure was 25,000 units.
Snake-Eyes (v16) came with a submachine gun and sword, both in metallic gray, an explosives pack and backpack, both in black and a cream colored wolf, "Timber."
Primary Specialty: Infantry
Secondary Specialty: Hand-to-Hand Combat Instructor
SNAKE EYES served in Long Range Recon Patrols in Southeast Asia. He left the service to study mystic martial arts with the same Ninja family that produced STORM SHADOW. SNAKE EYES was living an ascetic existence alone in the High Sierras with his pet timber wolf when he was recruited for the GI JOE team. He is a qualified expert in all NATO and Warsaw Pact small arms, has a black belt in 12 different fighting systems, and is highly skilled in the use of edged weapons.
"SNAKE EYES was tempered on the anvil of life until he was as dangerous as a razor-edged sword, flailing in the dark. The GI JOE team sheathed that sword and harnessed its deadly energy, but even they are wont to forget that within the safety of its scabbard, the blade retains its cutting edge."
Although Snake Eyes (v16) was released as a special pack-in with the DVD set, several hundred full production sample prototypes were stolen from the production factory in China in the fall of 2002. These figures are poly-bagged, much like Hasbro Direct mail order figures, rather than packed inside the DVD set. Otherwise, these figures are identical to the release figure. The production date code on the filecard is the same, as are the accessory choices.
Snake Eyes (v16) is made from the same mold as Snake Eyes (v7) (1997), Snake Eyes (v8) (1997), and Snake Eyes (v15) (2003). The waist was originally from Roadblock (v2) (1986) and was also used for Breaker (v2) (1997) and Rock 'N Roll (v5) (1997). The remainder of the figure is reused from the original Snake Eyes (1982/3) and the legs were used on Grunt (v4) (1997).
Versions of Snake Eyes
In 2006, a CLASSIFIED figure was released, showing Snake Eyes from his years prior to G.I. Joe.
