Storm Shadow (version 9) was released as part of the eighteenth series (2002) boxed in an eight-pack Exclusive to BJ's Wholesale Club and Fred Meyer stores. Also included were a reprint of Image Comics' G.I. Joe #1, Dial Tone, Roadblock, Snake Eyes, Wet-Suit, Fast Blast Viper, Firefly, and Undertow.

Body Construction
The same mold was used to create Storm Shadow (v3/Ninja Force) (1992), T'Gin-Zu (1993), Storm Shadow (v4/Shadow Ninja) (1994), Storm Shadow (v6) (2000), and Storm Shadow (v12) (2004). The chest, arms, waist, and legs were re-used in 1993 to create Ken Masters and Ken Masters (v2).
Previous uses of this mold included a spring-loaded action feature which is absent from this version.
Versions of Storm Shadow
In 2006, a Tommy Arashikage figure was released, showing Storm Shadow from his years prior to Cobra and G.I. Joe.
