Series: Eighteen (2002)
Dusty was given to attendees at the 2002 G.I.Joe Convention "Legacy of Valor" at Norfolk, Virginia. He did not include a filecard.
Though this figure was long known unofficially as "Paratrooper Dusty," it was not until the July 2009 issue of the Official G.I. Joe Collector's Club newsletter that this character was officially named as Dusty in a dossier within its pages. It is from this dossier that Dusty's specialty derives, as well.
Dusty came with a green backpack and a silver parachute attached with string.
Birthplace: Las Vegas, Nevada
Primary Specialty: Infantry/Paratrooper
Secondary Specialty: Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Maintainance
Motto: "Nothing beats getting the drop on the bad guys in the middle of the desert."
DUSTY feels totally at home in the desert, but he also knows that it is an unforgiving environment for those who take it for granted, unlike his hometown of Las Vegas which is always willing to give you a second chance. DUSTY was working as a refrigerator repairman and studying desert ecology at night when his pre-enlistment application for the G.I. JOE team was approved. He took his Army Basic Training at Fort Bliss in Texas and loved every minute of it.
DUSTY trains hard to keep himself in top physical condition, and he is not too proud to ask FLINT, the more experienced team member, for tips in field craft and parachuting tactics. He knows that simply making it through the day in the harshest desert conditions is extremely difficult, especially if you are carrying up to a hundred pounds of weapons, ammo, food, water, and equipment. To DUSTY, it's just a stroll through his back yard. He doesn't fight his environment, he coexists with everything it has to offer: snakes, scorpions, dust storms, even the extremes in temperature from day to night.

Note that version Thirteen came out after version Fourteen. Version Thirteen was intended to be released prior to version Fourteen, and was indeed available in Canada in the proper order. For reasons not officially known, the release of version Thirteen was delayed in the United States until the following year. We have opted to retain the originally-intended release numbers.
