Duke was released as a Target exclusive in 1991 and had fuzzy yellow hair. It was originally released on a request from Target. Duke was the first 12" figure to be released since 1976. This was a very successful figure which prompted the release of the following Hall of Fame figures.

Duke came with a black assault rifle with lights and sound, a black 9mm pistol with black holster and brown strap, a black knife with black sheath and brown strap, a tan backpack, a tan helmet, silver dog tags, a brown figure stand, a pair of tan boots, a desert camo shirt, desert camo pants, and an Operations Manual.

Graduated top of his class at Fort Benning Airborne School. Opted for U.S. Army Special Languages School where he specialized in Han Chinese and Southeast Asian dialects. Returned for refresher courses in numerous Middle Eastern languages. Upon graduation he served in the Army's Special Forces unit in Southeast Asia where he received the Congressional Medal of Honor and 2 Bronze Stars for single-handedly rescuing 34 POWs from a heavily guarded enemy compound. Led RDF (Rapid Deployment Force) troops into various "hot spots" in Central America and the Middle East.

A non-standard body was used, originally from the The New Kids On The Block 12" line. The head was an original design.
