The Ferret ATV was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1985. The toy was also sold in 1986 and was discontinued in 1987.
A bright blue version of the Ferret was available via mail-order in 1989-93. Around 1991, the mail-order Ferret ATV started appearing in brighter, more vibrant colors.

The Ferret's black hose is commonly missing. Also, the two red side missles and the storage cover are small and easily misplaced.
