The Persuader was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1987. It included the driver, Backstop. The Persuader was also sold in 1988 and was discontinued domestically in 1989.
Driver/Pilot: BACKSTOP (v1)
Backstop was released as part of the sixth series (1987), packaged exclusively with the Persuader high-speed tank. He was also sold in 1988, then was discontinued domestically in 1989.
If you consider just the American filecards as official G.I.Joe canon, Backstop is the only Canadian member of G.I.Joe.
Easily Broken/Lost Pieces
The yellow missiles are small and easily lost.
No variations of Persuader are known to exist.
Plastirama released the Persuader in Argentina.
Canada released the Persuader in multi-lingual packaging.
