Moray - Hydrofoil

Description:

The Cobra Moray Hydrofoil was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1985. It included a driver, Lamprey. The Moray was also sold in 1986 and was discontinued in 1987.

Versions of the Moray:


Driver/Pilot: Lamprey

Lamprey was first released as part of the fourth series (1985) packaged exclusively with the Cobra Moray [Hydrofoil]. He was also sold in 1986. In 1987, Lamprey and the Cobra Moray [Hydrofoil] were discontinued.

In 1989, he was available mail-order as part of the "Special Missions Drivers" set with Ace, Thunder, Keel-Haul, Strato-Viper, and Motor Viper.

Easily Broken/Lost Pieces:

The Moray included numerous small parts which were easily broken or misplaced - including a searchlight, 2 windshields, 2 side missiles, steering wheel, 2 seats, 2 storage covers, four m-30 machine guns, four depth charges and 4 missiles.


Variations:

There are two versions of the Moray frame. The first version attached to the bow with exposed snaps - the second version has posts that fit into the slots. If you look at the very front of the boat, the first version has tabs that hold the red top to the gray bottom. The second version does not have tabs.

The vehicle mold was repainted or retooled for the following vehicles:


International Releases:

In Argentina, Plastirama released the Moray as the Hidronave Torpedera.

In Venezuela, Rubiplas released the Moray, also called the Hidronave Torpedera.
