The Ammo Dump Unit was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1985. The toy was also sold in 1986 and was discontinued in 1987.
The Ammo Dump Unit was also available via mail order in 1988 - 1990 as well as part of the Battlefield Accessories Set (along with the Cobra Rifle Range, Mortar Defense Unit, and the Forward Observer) from 1992 - 1993.

Sometime in the 1990's, an Argentinian comapany repackaged the Plastirama Ammo Dump Unit in a C.O.P.S. set.
