The A.S.P. was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1984. The toy was also sold in 1985 and was discontinued in 1986.
It was later available in 1987 as a Mail-In Premium Offer.

In Canada in 1984, Sears sold the A.S.P. bundled with the Cobra Stinger Jeep in the Cobra Combat Set.
In Europe, the A.S.P. was released with different stickers.
