The Twin Battle Gun Whirlwind was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1983. It was also sold in 1984 and was discontinued in 1985.

The Twin Battle Gun Whirlwind was available from Hasbro Direct via mail-away offers from 1985 until 1986.

Easily Broken/Lost Pieces

The machine gun covers are removable and can sometimes be lost. Also, the wheels of the Whirlwind can be locked into a "rolling" position, or lowered in a shooting position - beware of broken wheels.

Featured In

The Twin Battle Gun Whirlwind was featured in several of the various media of GI Joe through the years, including Trading Cards, Comic Books, Cartoons and Commercials.

In Europe in the early 1980s, the Whirlwind was recolored in dark green and black and released as the Z Force Whirlwind.

The Whirlwind was also sold in Argentina in the early 90s.
