Description:

The Assault Copter Dragonfly [XH-1] was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1983. The box included the driver, Wild Bill. The toy was also sold in 1984 and 1985, and was discontinued in 1986.

Versions of the Dragonfly:

This was the only version of the Dragonfly ever released.


Driver/Pilot: Wild Bill

Wild Bill was released as part of the second series (1983). He came packaged exclusively with the GI Joe Assault Copter Dragonfly XH-1.

Easily Broken/Lost Pieces:

There are several pieces that can come off and become easily lost - including the canopy, the nose turret, the hook and winch, the six missiles, the side gun, the black hose that attaches to the side gun, the two red rubber pieces at the ends of the rotors, and the white piece that is pushed to cause the rotors to spin.

Also, check the spinning rotation of the rotors. The rotors should NEVER be pulled out, as that will break the spinning action.


Variations:

There are two versions of the nose turret that attaches to the front of the Dragonfly. The earliest version of the turret had guns that not only swiveled, but elevated. The later version of the turret had guns that only swiveled from side to side and did not elevate. The swivel/elevate version is slightly harder to find.

The vehicle mold was repainted or retooled for the following vehicles:


International Releases:

Internationally in 1985 through 1987, the Assault Copter Dragonfly was released in Europe as part of the Action Force toyline.

In Brazil the Assault Copter Dragonfly was released as part of the Comandos em Acao toyline by Estrela Toys and was called Jetcoptero De Combate.

The Assault Copter Dragonfly was also released in Japan.
