The Air Assault was released carded in U.S. toy stores with the pilot Barrel Roll in 2003. The Air Assault was part of the Spy Troops line, and could be changed from a G.I.Joe glider to a Cobra glider.
The Air Assault was also in 2004 with the K-Mart Exclusive Operation Avalanche box set. The Operation Avalanche set included the Assault Quad (v2), two Air Assault gliders, Snake Eyes (v13), Dusty (v7), Iron Grenadier (v2), and Storm Shadow (v13).
The Air Assault was repainted in 2004 to make the Air Assault.
