Hasbro's Q & A Answers!
Q & A Answers for September are here!
YoJoe: The "Then and Now" figure and vehicle boxed set have us going wild with collector's glee but at the same time we want to know, why was the Polar Battle Bear/Rockslide and Snow Job the vehicle/figure of choice (since we have so many uses of the vintage Snow Job figure already) and will this type of set (vintage and brand-new) continue? You have us speculating wildly!
Hasbro: The decision was made more because of the vehicle than the figure. The Rockslide is obviously a derivative of the original Polar Battle Bear, and considering the size of the vehicle it was a perfect candidate for a Then and Now set. Considering the rich history of G.I. Joe and our large library of tools, we would like very much to continue the &then and now& packs in some form or another - though nothing is definite.
YoJoe: We are seeing a lot of the now canceled G.I.Joe: Resolute figures and accessories coming out in the Rise of Cobra and Pursuit of Cobra assortments. This is great to see, but they still fall short of completing our Resolute collections per the animation. You have stated in past Q&A's that a possible Resolute boxed set is in the works, can you elaborate on what that exactly means and what a possible set my entail?
Hasbro: We, like you, would love for all of the Resolute figures to be available in their original form. If a boxed set does materialize, it would most likely be in a similar format to the "Attack on/Defense of Cobra Island" sets that came out this year.
YoJoe: There are a lot of 80's era vehicles and mini-play sets making a comeback this year as store exclusives, Cobra Surveillance Port, Cobra MMS Missile System, Laser Artillery Weapon (LAW), Outpost Defender, Cobra SNAKE Armor, Cobra Jetpack - so many items collectors would have never expected to see again. Can you give us a look behind the scenes, as to why such unique vehicles and play sets were selected and will we see more in the year to come?
Hasbro: Many of these decisions are based on what tooling is still available after all these years. We have wanted to re-release the mini-sets for a couple years and thought the tools were gone, but recently we made the discovery that they were intact and in great shape!
