Spain: Carded Commander
Filecard
Pictured above is a mint-on-card Cobra
Commander from Spain. While released in 1991 in the U.S., he was released
in 1992 in Spain simply as "Commander." While this version is the
same mold and color, the major distinction is the fact that the figure speaks
spanish rather than english.
The cardstock and bubble quality of the European G.I.Joe figures is very comparable
to the U.S. G.I.Joe figures. The black backpack was permanently attached to
the back of the figure and could not be removed without a screwdriver. The backpack
had 3 buttons that would play battle commands : Oh No!,
Me Las Pagaras! (which roughly translates into
"You'll pay for it!" and Venceremos!
(which roughly translates into We will win!) The fourth button played the same
electronic combat sound as the english-speaking
version. The backpack ran on three A-76 button size batteries - included
with the figure.
