| Long Summary
As a team of Joes is extracting itself from a mission near the Black Sea, Mainframe is getting one of his first field missions. After successfully retrieving and downloading the network files, the team, which includes Duke, Beach Head, Rock 'n' Roll, Mainframe and Grand Slam are arriving at the beach to head to their zodiac boat for complete extraction. Mainframe falls down and Grand Slam steps up to help him up when Grand Slam is hit in the head with a bullet, killing him instantly. Duke orders Rock 'n' Roll to pick up Grand Slam and the team wades out into the water to get on the boat. The enemy fire a RPG which hits the boat blowing Mainframe clear away.
Later, Mainframe wakes up in The Pit hospital ward with Scarlett telling him that he was successful in recovering the networks information.
Week 2
He is taken off intensive care
Week 3
Teammates visit bringing him music, etc.
Week 4
He learns his injuries: Four ounces of shrapnel removed, a concussion, busted up knee, four broken ribs, deflated lung.
Week 6
Mainframe yells at a nurse about how bored he is and tells the doctor that his brain is fine it just his body that is broken.
So Scarlett brings in a computer terminal and Mainframe goes back to work from his hospital bed.
Week 7
Mainframe interrupts one of Scarlett's mission briefings to tell her that he has staggered into something really important. He has been shifting through tons of terror coms and message boards and keeps coming up with the name Cobra. It pops up all over. Scarlett dismisses him and tells him to get some sleep.
A series of events that Mainframe tracks happens that are all connected:
A Canadian Agriculture Minister speaks out against lowering tariffs on rice and granting favored nation status to a small African nation.
That minister is shamed when millions are found in a secret account placed there by a multinational food conglomerate. As the minister is speaking to the press the Baroness can be seen in the background directly behind him.
The small African nation now flush with Canadian cash from rising rice prices, this nation builds up its army and challenges its neighbor.
An arms race and war begins in order to fund it the neighboring nation is forced to sell off its mineral exploration contracts.
The Chinese take out a 99 year contract for the port, so oil super tankers can dock.
A French engineering firm builds a road into the interior so a German company can mine chromium & bauxite.
Week 8
Again, he briefs Scarlett and explains that a major player is making all of this happen between the lines and they are bigger then any one country because they aren't part of a any country. Scarlett is skeptical and Mainframe shows her a picture of the Baroness (captured from the footage of the minister's press release speech) but no name is given.
Week 9
Now, up and walking and doing physical rehab. He is explaining all of the connections he has discovered to Snake Eyes who is in the room also working out.
Later
Mainframe is giving a full briefing to Hawk, Scarlett and Duke about what he has discovered about Cobra. He shows them graphs, charts and the long and crazy connections that Cobra has stuck its fingers into. It is a world wide conspiracy and Hawk just thinks Mainframe has gone crazy. He dismisses Mainframe and everything he is talking about. Scarlett is sympathetic. He just can't stop finding the connections and talking about them to his teammates.
Week 12
Now pretty much completely recovered from his injuries he has been failing to finish his assignments as his obsession with Cobra continues. Scarlett brings him some coffee and asks what he is listening to. His answer is speed metal music, which is a lie, he is in fact listening into a conversation happening in Myanmar over a cell phone between a Cobra agent Pyang and an unknown voice on the other end. He is tracking the location and gets it just as the agent hangs up. Part of the conversion he hears is regarding the size and power of Cobra and that this organization must be respected. He tracks the person Pyang was talking to a cell phone in Rangoon.
In The Pit's surveillance camera center, several cameras and the corresponding sensors go down briefly. Actually, outside Mainframe is walking out of The Pit, he has temporarily deactivated the sensors so his desertion is undetected. But Snake Eyes in his full black gear holds a sword to the back of Mainframe's head. He begins explaining that he is not really defecting even though it looks like it. But since Hawk has ordered him to stop hunting for Cobra he feels it is his duty to prove it to the Joes that Cobra is a serious and real threat. And he can no longer do it from The Pit. As he is saying this Snake Eyes disappears basically letting him go.
Week 20
Scarlett is in communication with Stalker and his team of Leatherneck and Recondo as they approach what they believe is a Mainframe hide out in Miami. They enter the room which is empty except for a laptop with note on the screen saying "Better Luck Next Time". Stalker radios to his outside team members to report in Duke reports the front is clear, Beach Head that the back alley is clear and Sneak Peek with his sniper rifle reports that the roof is clear.
Hawk and Scarlett have missed Mainframe again. When Mainframe calls into Scarlett. He is watching Stalker invade the room and tells her that he is leading them away from him. He then tells her that he is signing off, will disappear completely and she should stop wasting Joe resources on finding him because they won't. He does want to leave them with one last message. And up on all of the screens in The Pit's communication room pops "Beware Rangoon"
