Long Summary
Inside The Pit, a grenade is thrown at the Joe team who are defending themselves from a failed ambush by Chimera's men lead by Cahill. They are currently using the cover of several large boxes labeled "explosives". As the grenade lands Rock 'n' Roll dives on top of the grenade to save his teammates. But Duke and Heavy Duty have a different idea. Heavy Duty picks up Rock 'n' Roll throwing him to the side, Duke steps up and kicks the grenade back to Cahill's side of the fight. Cahill grabs one of his men and throws him onto the grenade as it explodes.

In another part of The Pit, Scarlett has been struggling to get free from Chimera's grasp. He keeps rambling about how quick and strong he is. But he shows concern because he knows that Snake Eyes has just been dropped off on the surface. Scarlett's response is to laugh and ask him if he is scared.

Outside, Snake Eyes opens a shaft cover and kills one of Chimera's guards. He is now inside The Pit.

Because of Rock 'n' Roll's selfless act Heavy Duty has a new sense of respect for him. Duke interrupts and tells the team that have to advance. Heavy Duty & Rock 'n' Roll open fire pinning down Cahill and the rest of Chimera's men as Duke leads Stalker and Breaker on the attack.

Chimera is now headed to the control room with Scarlett held at arms length gun point.

Snake Eyes kills a couple more guards with his sword as he heads toward the control room.

Cahill, having just killed one of his own men for being a coward, is pinned in a corner with the Joe team advancing on all sides. He orders his remaining men to attack and pulls out a grenade.

Chimera reveals his plan to Scarlett, Operations Poison Pen & Poison Gas. Operation Poison Gas will release nerve toxins in 10 major US cities which should kill millions. And the second, Operation Poison Pen is an email that is sent out to several key investment firms explaining a perfectly legal strategy to make a lot of money through sub-prime mortgages and bundled asset diversification. He has both sent up to be activated by an email being sent out in the next five minutes.

Stalker saves Duke after spotting a laser dot on his head. Cahill and his last two remaining men are completely and literally cornered. Duke offers them safety if the throw down there guns and come out with their hands in the air. Cahill's response is to pull the pin in his last grenade, hold the grenade in both hands and have his men sit next to him. Duke and Stalker are forced to duck as the grenade explodes.

Snake Eyes has reached Chimera and Scarlett in the control room. Chimera is fast and avoids several of Snake Eyes' sword swipes. Scarlett trying to distract Chimera throws a bottle of gas at Chimera but he dodges it and it hits Snake Eyes in the face. Scarlett attacks him as he fires his gun at Snake Eyes' head. The bullet misses but the fire from the barrel catches the gas on Snake Eyes' head on fire. He looks like the Marvel character Ghost Rider with his head on fire. Chimera then punches Scarlett in the head with his pistol. Snake Eyes attacks again and now Chimera is beginning to be terrified of Snake Eyes.

After clearing the room, Duke leads the team to the control room.

Snake Eyes and Chimera are now wrestling, getting closer to the edge of a vehicle sized elevator shaft and the elevator is at the bottom. So it is really just a huge open pit. Scarlett recovers just in time to see them roll off the edge of the elevator shaft.

Duke and the team arrive just after they have fallen into the shaft. Duke immediately begins to look after Scarlett as Breaker and Stalker rush into the control room to see the time countdowns are just over the two minute mark.

Chimera, in a pre-recorded message and wearing his very disturbing Goya painting mask (see GI Joe Origins #1) begins to explain the countdowns. Breaker tells Stalker that he has time to such down one email but not two. Stalker calls for Duke.

Chimera is his description of the two disasters that the emails with cause is totally crazy. But it is a real threat. Duke now faced with the decision of which one to order Breaker to stop. Duke's decision is to stop the email that releases the nerve toxin. Breaker is successful in stopping it. But the email regarding the sub prime mortgages shows it has been a confirmed as sent.

Scarlett standing over the elevator shaft, holding Snake Eyes' sword says "I'm sorry" when a hand appears. Snake Eyes pulls himself out of the shaft. His head is completely black and smoking, Scarlett just grabs him and holds him close to her.

Breaker says he has found the lights for The Pit. And he turns them on, revealing a huge underground base that is falling apart.
