In Kariba, Lifeline has arrived with a medical team, they are wearing containment suits and have set up containment facilities around the building. Duke is starting to feel the effects of the first fever. Duke also wants to know why they can't reach The Pit anymore. As the US's CDC unit arrives the Joe team exits taking Duke and leaving behind a bunch of supplies for Dr. Akumba. As they enter the helicopter, Lifeline tells Duke about what happened at The Pit.

Scarlett & Flint are looking at an old abandoned Army base, Fort Baxter, that was such down in 1988. It is the Joes new home.

In Tokyo, Oda Satori, Storm Shadow and Zartan's boss, arrives at a meeting spot under a highway. Storm Shadow is hiding in a dark corner and begins his report. He confirms destruction of The Pit and that he worked with Zartan, "who was useful." Satori responds with "As I knew he would be. You must not resent his place in my operation. I trust Zartan as I trust you, loyal warrior. In truth, as much as I trust myself."
