IDW Publishing

IDW, or Idea + Design Works, after acquiring the G.I. Joe comics license, began releasing G.I. Joe comics in January 2009. They redefined the G.I. Joe comics experience with a brand new continuity (the IDW Continuity) which has a darker, more realistic mature tone. It included numerous series including GI Joe 4 volumes, Cobra I,II & its series plus Cobra Files, Origins, Snake Eyes + Agent of Cobra, Special Missions, Hearts & Minds, Tales of the Cobra Wars and the Revolution crossovers.

Also,GI Joe (the IDW continuity) is part of the massive shared IDW Hasbro Comic Crossover Universe called Revolution that includes GI Joe, Transformers, Micronauts, ROM, MASK and Action Man.

In 2010, IDW restarted the original Marvel A Real American Hero continuity (ARAH Continuity) by continuing the series which started in 1982 and finished in 1994 with issue #155 1/2. Larry Hama once more pens the same continuity he started in 1982.

In 2009, IDW began releasing movie related comics that supported the theatrically released movies GI Joe: Rise of Cobra and the sequel GI Joe: Retaliation. They are in their own continuity.

Numerous crossover series with GI Joe where created including Transformer vs GI Joe, Danger Girl GI Joe and Street Fighter x GI Joe. And GI Joe was a part of Infestation #1 & #2 an IDW series that tells a similar story in multiple comic properties without an actual crossover between them. All there own individual continuties.

And IDW reprinted in several different trade paperback formats nearly all of the Marvel, Devil's Due Publishing and IDW issues and stories.
