Long Summary

Over several months Spirit has been tracking Cobra Commander. He has regularly been reporting back to Hawk, who sent him on this mission, with his progress.

Starting with Cobra Commander's disappearance in Badhikstan, where the Commander was reported to have been attacked by the Red Shadow's organization (See DDP issue #41). Spirit then follows a rumor that a mysterious man was convalescing in hospital in the Middle East. The man just disappeared leaving a very cold path for Sprit to follow.

The next report comes from a jungle in Panama, where Spirit has been able to follow some Cobra troop transport vehicle tracks to a harbor where it was loaded onto a transport ship.

He then reports that the ship went to somewhere in South American. Spirit is then lead to a village that has been slaughtered, apparently a tribal skirmish, but the clean up was unfinished. Amongst the destruction Spirit is able to find a shell casing. The manufacture is ARBCO, a well known Cobra front company. Spirit has finally found some confirmation that he is on the right trail.

In another part of South America, Spirit has been able listen in on several conversations about the "El Fantasma Azul" or the "The Blue Ghost". The stories are always associated with the disappearance of the local troublemakers or lawbreakers. Spirit assumes that these missing men will make perfect recruits for a new Cobra Army.

In Spirit's last transmission to Hawk, he has discovered a place in Southern Peru that has lots of activity during the evening and night hours. His last message to Hawk is that he is going to get some first hand intelligence from inside this cabin.

Once inside the cabin, Spirit discovers a laptop computer with a Cobra symbol on it, opening it up pictures of Sara & William with gun scope targets on them are displayed on the screen. They are Spirit's family in a park Washington DC.

From behind Spirit comes Cobra Commander, El Fantasma Azul himself, holding an AK-47. He says "Hello Iron Knife you've been expected."

Many months later sitting in his wheelchair, Hawk has not heard back from Spirit, Hawk ponders what could have happened.
