The cover art features several of the new vehicles that were first available in 1988 - including the Mean Dog, Cobra Bugg, and Phantom X-19. Pictured prominently in the forefront is the largest new playset released that year, the G.I.Joe Rolling Thunder.
Note that the catalog is actually dated 1987 - making it the second catalog dated 1987. However, this catalog pictures the 1988 series of figures and vehicles, making it the logical "1988 catalog".
