Shockwave
|
Description:
G.I.Joe figures usually began as resin hard copies. These resin models
were used to create the molds. The molds were used to press out a run
of "First shots" or "Test shots". These test shots
were done in many different colors and lacked a date stamp until the
production run began.
Pictured above is a test shot of Shockwave
(1992). Note that it is sealed in a plastic bag with some of its accessories.
The prototype is molded in several colors and the entire figure is unpainted.
Like most test shots, there is no date stamp on the figure.

Additional Images:
In a Hasbro product catalog, Shockwave was pictured with the missile
launcher that came with Mutt (1992)
but with a blue net rather than the produced green one. Likewise, Mutt
was pictured with the launcher that came with Shockwave. Also, the grenades
on the figure's chest were unpainted.

In television commercials, Shockwave had a blue version of his own
launcher.
