Pictured above is and early version of Cobra Commander (1991) as the figure appeared in the 1992 yearly insert catalog. Notable differences include the lack of a cobra symbol on the chest and blue backpack.

Pictured above is the schematics artwork for Cobra Commander. After the original concept art was approved, detailed schematics would be drawn to coordinate creation of the actual pieces.

In many cases, Hasbro used placeholders and prototype images in various insert catalogs. While the American catalog image at the top is quite similar to the produced figure, the image from Belgium directly above depicts a placeholder that used previously-existing parts. In this case, the parts used are repainted from Cobra Commander (1984).
