Major Storm

Description:

Before prototype test-shots are designed, resin models were created to create the molds. One of those resin models would be hand painted to provide the final color scheme for the produced figures.

Pictured above is the painted resign model of Major Storm (1990). Note that the accessories are not the ones that were finally included with the figure.

Additional Images:

Action figures usually start as "Hard Copies". These models are used to create the molds, that are used to press out a run of "First shots" or "Test shots". These test shots are done in many different colors and lack a date stamp until the production run begins.

Pictured above is a test shot of Major Storm (1990). His body is molded in several colors, the head is in tan, and the entire figure is unpainted. There is no date stamp on the figure

Pictured above is a preproduction image of Major Storm as the figure appeared in a Hasbro product catalog. Note that the figure is not the same one pictured above. It includes gold detail on the waist pocket and the cuff of the sleeve.

Handpainted prototype from the collection of: Steve Campbell
