Description:
Pictured above is a handpainted prototype of Backstop
(1987) as the figure appeared in the 1987 yearly insert catalog. Note
the curvature of the front on the helmet that was changed before production
began. This helmet shape is more consistent with the appearance on the
package and filecard.

Pictured above is Backstop as the figure appeared in a 1987 Hasbro product
catalog. From here, you can see that the forearm straps were originally
to be painted black along with the chest pockets painted in gray.
