Pictured above is an early version of Spirit
(1984) as he appeared in the 1984 insert catalog. The notable differences
are the flesh tone chest rather than a red undershirt and no chevrons
or patch on his arms.

This figure appeared several times in the 1984 yearly catalog, again
in the 1985 catalog, and alsotelevision commercials. However, when he
appeared in the 85 catalog, he then had the additional sleeve details
added.
