Description:
Action figures usually start as "Hard Copies". These models
are used to create the molds, that are used to press out a run of "First
shots" or "Test shots". These test shots are done in
many different colors and lack a date stamp until the production run
begins.
Pictured above is a first shot of Storm
Shadow (2002) that has been painted with primer. Note that the right
forearm is actually the one eventually included with Snake
Eyes (2002). Also note that the elbow joint mechanics are reversed.
The single part hinge is part of the lower arm while the outer portion
of the elbow is instead a part of the elbow socket.
