G.I. Joe Newsletter - (1984)
Pictured above is one of the pages from the G.I.Joe Command Post Newsletter from 1984. This was the newsletter that one received when they signed up to join the officially sponsored G.I.Joe fan club that Hasbro organized in the early 1980s.
Page One
The cover depicts several Joes, included a Command Post logo the prominently features Duke, and includes a brief history of the American flag.
Pages Two and Three
The sketchbook pictures several preliminary drawings of several G.I.Joe vehicles - including the Dragonfly and Skystriker. Also pictured are preliminary sketches of Zartan.
Note that many of these images were later reprinted and used in the 1985 G.I.Joe Fact & Yearbook.
In addition to the sketchbook images are a few puzzles involving acronyms and a description of what "G.I.Joe" means (being a team designation, as opposed to being a designation for one specific individual).
Page Four
The page features Roadblock's Action Rations - different recipes for kids. In addition, Airborne is depicted showing the different hand and arm commands used to land a helicopter.
Page Five
The page features a mail call that answers some questions about G.I.Joe. In addition, there's a nice spread about improving your health - with exercises depicted by different G.I.Joe figures and a messagefrom the American Cancer Society.
Page Six
The page features an explanation of different patterns that one can use to search, along with an explanation of Doc's First Aid Tips.
