Young Adult Book: The Sultan's Secret
In addition to the "Find Your Fate" line of G.I.Joe books, Ballantine Books published a series of G.I.Joe Young Adult/Fiction books.
Pictured above is number 6 in the series - The Sultan's Secret by Peter Lerangis. The book is 118 pages in length, it was published in July of 1988, and the ISBN # is 0-345-35099-5.
The back of the book reads: Centuries ago, the savage sultan Boabdil ruled the lands with a legendry army. It is written that Boabdil's soldiers never slept, went for days without food and water, and were impervious to pain.
So the legend goes. But now the evil genius Dr. Mindbender has stolen a top
secret isotope bearing the same extraordinary properties which created
Boabdil's army: the ability to enhance human strength! With the ultimate
warrior Serpentor's help, Mindbender plans to learn the ancient sultan's
secret processes and thus build an unstoppable Cobra-recruited Super Army.
...That is, if he can get past the G.I.Joe Team's pile-driving fists,
tireless legs, and weapons too numerous and lethal to list. Hawk, Jinx,
Gung-Ho, Chuckles, Sneak Peek, Low-Light, Psyche-Out, Lifeline, Tunnel Rat,
and Roadblock are scrambled for battle, but if Dial-Tone can't decode the
sultan's secret before the Super Army starts marching, no one will be
safe...
