Carded Figure (1994)

Payload's Filecard (1993)

Payload's Filecard (1994)

Figure Description:

Payload (version 4) was first released carded as part of the twelfth series (1993) as part of the Star Brigade subset. The packaging was exactly the same as Payload (v3).

That next year in 1994, Payload (v5) was released carded with all new card art. Some Payloads (v4) were released with the same packaging art as Payload (v5).

He was discontinued domestically in 1994.

Versions of Payload:

Accessories (1993):

Payload came with four orange weapons, a gold missile launcher (spring loaded, actually fired), two orange missiles, and an orange figure stand.

Except for the missile launcher, all of Payload's accessories came attached to one plastic "tree". The accessories were removed from the tree.

Accessories (1994):

Except for the missile launcher, all of Payload's accessories came attached to one plastic "tree". The accessories were removed from the tree.

Variations:

Some Payloads (v4) were released on the pink Star Brigade packaging in 1993, while some were released on the dark Star Brigade packaging in 1994.

Body Construction:

Payload was created using the same mold as Eco-Warriors Barbecue (1992). The mold was also used in 1993 to create Payload (v4) and in 1994 to create Payload (v5).

Early publicity photos of Payload v3 (and the filecard art) depict Payload being made of the same mold as Payload (v1) and Payload (v2). However, Hasbro apparently lost the mold and used the Barbecue mold instead.
