GENERAL HAWK (v3)
G.I. JOE COMMANDER
Series: Twelve (1993)
General Hawk (version 3) was available mail-order in 1993 and was discontinued domestically in 1994.
The figure was also available in 1994 as a Convention Exclusive. The Convention Exclusive came with a silver sticker on the bag noting it as such.
General Hawk came with a green rifle, a black sonic backpack that made four electronic battle sounds (it included four 357a button size batteries), a yellow helmet with a removable gold faceplate, and a black figure stand.
Grade: O-7 (Brigadier General)
Birthplace: Denver, Colorado
As a rule, General Officers direct battle from the safety of the rear echelons, but the commander of a tightly coordinated, rapid deployment force like the G.I. Joe Team has to be right on top of the action at all times, ready to make split-second decisions on tactical developments as they happen. The combination of jet pack and communications helmet allows HAWK to survey the progress of battle as well as keep in constant radio contact with all elements of his command!
"Some Generals like to come out and give a nice speech before a fight, full of 'go-get-'em' and 'yay-team', and that's the last you see of them until the dust settles and they're back up from the rear again, handing out medals and trying to look as battle-weary as they can in starched fatigues. When Hawk takes you into a hairy situation, he's usually in FRONT of you yelling, 'Follow me!'"
Bagged General Hawks were for sale at the 1994 G.I. Joe Convention. These figures are identical to the mail-in release, except for a sticker applied to the bag.
General Hawk's mold was originally used to create the 1991 General Hawk.
Versions of Hawk
In 1991 Hawk was renamed "General Hawk," in 2000 renamed "General Tomahawk," in 2004 renamed "General Abernathy," and in 2008 renamed "G.I. Joe Hawk." So while there are several names, they are all based on the character "Hawk."
