CHUN LI (v1)
KUNG FU FIGHTER
Series: Twelve (1993)
Chun Li was released carded in the twelfth series (1993) as part of Capcom's Street Fighter 2 subset. The Street Fighter 2 figures were numbered 1 through 12 - Chun Li was number 4.
She was discontinued domestically in 1994.
Chun Li came with three different yellow swords, a yellow knife, two yellow claws, yellow nunchuks, and a yellow figure stand.
All of Chun Li's accessories came attached to one plastic "tree." The accessories were removed from the tree.
Unlike many of the other contestants, Chun Li has not entered the tournament for personal glory. Instead, she has been secretly tracking the movements of an international smuggling operation known as Shadoloo. The trail has lead her to the tournament and she now believes that one of the Grand Masters may have been responsible for the disappearance of her father. Stunned by her good looks, opponents often underestimate Chun Li's ability and find themselves flattened by a few well placed kicks. Chun Li's quest for justice guides her life, but at heart she is still a young girl who yearns to live a normal life.
"I'm the strongest woman in the world!"
No variations of Chun Li (v1) are known to exist.
Chun Li's body was designed with a "whirlwind kick." Chun Li's spring-loaded right leg could be pushed back, then released, causing it to spring forward in a kicking motion.
Note that Chun Li has two cloth ribbons attached to her right hip.
In Canada, Chun Li was released in dual-language packaging.
Versions of Chun Li
A Street Fighter Movie version of Chun Li was released in 1994, but the Street Fighter Movie figures are not considered G.I.Joe figures.
