HEAVY MACHINE GUNNER
Series: Eleven (1992)
Roadblock (version 4) was released carded as part of the eleventh series (1992). That year, Roadblock was recalled because the accessories were considered dangerous.
The following year in 1993, the exact same Roadblock (v4) was re-released with new accessories. He was discontinued in 1994.
Recalled Version - 1992)
Originally, Roadblock came with a black machine gun, a black knife, a blue rotor launcher (spring loaded, actually fired), a black rotor, and a black figure stand.
The spring loaded disk launcher caused Hasbro to recall Roadblocks with these accessories. The official Hasbro reason is that the disk launchers broke too easily - however, some collectors believe that it was because the spring loaded disk launcher was too powerful.
After Recall - 1993)
After the recall, Roadblock came with a light blue missile launcher (spring loaded, actually fired) and a black plastic "tree" of weapons - including two rifles, a pistol, a knife, 2 missiles, and a black figure stand.
Birthplace: Biloxi, Mississippi
Primary Specialty: Heavy Machine Gunner
Secondary Specialty: Cook (Escoffier qualified Chef)
There are two versions of Roadblock (v4) - with the disk launcher, and without. Roadblock with the disk launcher is much harder to find than the one without.
Roadblock's body is entirely original - no parts were taken from other figures.
Versions of Roadblock
Note that Roadblock v8 has a file name of "Charles L. Griffith," making that figure a version of "Double Blast" (2001). However, the conventional wisdom is that this was simply an error on Hasbro's part, and that the figure is supposed to be the "Marvin F. Hinton" Roadblock of the other versions.
