GENERAL HAWK (v2)
G.I. JOE COMMANDER
Series: Eleven (1992)
General Hawk (version 2) was released carded as part of the eleventh series (1992) as part of the Talking Battle Commanders. He was discontinued domestically in 1993.
General Hawk came with a gold pistol, a gold rifle, a gold antenna (that fit into a hole on the backpack), and a black figure stand.
The gold backpack was permanently attached to the back of the figure and could not be removed (except with a screwdriver, see BODY CONSTRUCTION below). The backpack had 3 buttons that would play battle commands : Eat Lead, Cobra!, Yo Joe!, and Move out!. The fourth button played an electronic combat sound. The backpack ran on three A-76 button size batteries - included with the figure.
Grade: O-8 (Major General)
Birthplace: Denver, Colorado
One thing the G.I. Joes know for certain, when they hear HAWK give the command to "MOVE OUT!", he'll be giving it from in front of them and not from the rear! As commanding officer of the G.I. Joe Team with the rank of a 2-star General, Hawk could command his unit from an armored bunker or a high-flying aircraft, but that's not his style. He's a West Point graduate who's smart enough to know that 10 minutes with his soldiers on a real battlefield is worth more than a year in the classroom, and such an act will do more for their morale than a regiment of donut dollies ever could--well, almost. Hawk enjoys directing the combat action from the G.I. Joe Patriot or from G.I. Joe's Fort America!
1. Forearm battle stiletto
2. Grenade bandolier and ammo belt
3. Garrison cap
4. Standard battle dress uniform for desert conflicts
5. Static-free communicator
• All-weather, rough terrain boots
• Two, MK-22 "back-breaker" grenades
• Battle communications backpack

No variations of General Hawk (v2) are known to exist.
General Hawk's body is entirely original - no parts were taken from other figures.
The entire mold was re-used to create General Tomahawk (2000) and General Tomahawk (v2) (2002).
Note that the backpack is not easily removable. To remove the backpack, the backpack needs to be opened by unscrewing the four visible screws. Once the backpack is opened, inside are three long screws that attach the backpack to the figure.
Versions of Hawk
In 1991 Hawk was renamed "General Hawk," in 2000 renamed "General Tomahawk," in 2004 renamed "General Abernathy," and in 2008 renamed "G.I. Joe Hawk." So while there are several names, they are all based on the character "Hawk."
