Master of Mind Control

Code Name:

Dr. Mindbender

Desimone Guide: #117

Tomart's Guide: #GI5563

Carded Figure

Dr. Mindbender's Filecard

Figure Description:

Dr. Mindbender was first released as part of the fifth series (1986). He was also available in 1987 and was discontinued in 1988.

The name "Dr. Mindbender" may have been a last minute addition. At certain early times in G.I.Joe mythos, he was referred to as "Dr. Brainwave" (in Marvel Comics G.I.Joe #44) and also as "The Interrogator" (on the filecard of Serpentor).

Versions of Dr. Mindbender:

Accessories:

Dr. Mindbender came with a white handgun, a silver prod, a black power generator, a black cape (with a painted silver Cobra logo), and a black hose.

Variations:

There are two types of Dr. Mindbender's cape. One has a Cobra sigil as a patch - the other is an iron-on transfer.

Body Construction:

The thighs (or upper legs) of Dr. Mindbender were originally used to create Mutt (1984).

Other than the thighs, Dr. Mindbender's body is completely original - all new body parts. None of his parts were ever re-used in other figures.

International Variants:

In Brazil, Dr. Mindbender was released as part of the Iron Grenadiers.

In France, Dr. Mindbender was released as "Dr. Cortex".
