Filecard Information

File Name: Classified
Birthplace: Various Countries
Primary Specialty: Arctic Operations
Secondary Specialty: Infantry

Snow Serpents are the Arctic Specialist branch of the Eels (COBRA Frogmen). They must undergo the same rigorous training program as the Eels with the addition of a six month cold weather course somewhere above the Arctic Circle. Other aspects of their training include airborne operations (under arctic conditions), anti-tank procedures and the use of snow-shoes, skis and kayaks.

"If the Eels are the elite of COBRA's naval branch, then the Snow Serpents are the best of the best. How else could you characterize an individual who would parachute onto an ice floe in sub-zero temperatures and then be prepared to march 50 miles with full field pack, assault rifle and anti-tank weapon?"

Variations

The 1992 G.I.Joe Convention release came with a gray missile launcher and a gray missile.

Featured In

Snow Serpent was featured in several of the various media of GI Joe through the years, including Trading Cards, Comic Books, Cartoons and Commercials.

Body Construction

Snow Serpent's body is completely original - all new body parts.

Snow Serpent's head was later recolored and used to create Heli-Vipers. Snow Serpent's entire body and mold were re-used for the Snow Serpent Commander.

Starting with this series (Series Four, 1985), the head joint on G.I.Joe figures was changed into a head "ball." This ball allowed the head to look up and down, in addition to left and right.

International Releases

Snow Serpent was released in Canada in dual-language packaging.
