Cobra Commander (version 36) was released with the DVD Battles Pack, set 5 of 5. The set also included Alpine (v5), Cobra Paratrooper, Duke (v29), and a Cobra C.L.A.W. Additionally, this set included a DVD of the "Best of" '80s Episodes and a component of the M.A.S.S. Device vehicle - the beam emitter.
Cobra Commander (v36) was re-released in the 50th Anniversary line in the Chase For The M.A.S.S. Device 3-Pack. The set included Cobra Paratrooper, Duke (v29), and a Cobra C.L.A.W.

COBRA COMMANDER is totally ruthless and without a conscience. The leader of the COBRA forces, he wants two simple things: to take over the world through his COBRA organization, and to destroy the GI JOE team. Money and power are what he's after, and he'll do anything to get them. And it won't be anything on a small scale - no, he likes his attacks and destruction to be on a big scale. He'll even attempt to take over a major city. He relished sweeping past the Statue of Liberty in a COBRA C.L.A.W. assault glider to show that he is taking control of the liberty and freedom of the entire world.
Variations
Due to environmental concerns and rising cost, the vac-metal chrome finish on Cobra Commander's face mask was changed to a metallic silver paint for the 50th Anniversary release.
The display stand for the 50th Anniversary release featured gold paint.

Body Construction
Cobra Commander (v36) was created using the body of Cobra Commander (v24) (2007), the left hand of Cobra Commander (v35) (2008), and a new head.
Versions of Cobra Commander
"The Doctor" represents Cobra Commander before adopting the title in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. "Old Snake" represents a future version of Cobra Commander from Sunbow's The Transformers animated series.
