Zap (v3) was released in a three pack as part of the twentieth series (2004). The pack also included Grunt (v8), Snake Eyes (v20), and a reprint of G.I. Joe #4.
While the front of the package named the figure Raphael "Zap" Melendez, both the filecard and the proof of purchase named the figure Zap.

Zap's waist was shared with Roadblock (v2) (1986), Guile (1993), Guile (v2) (1993), Rock n Roll (v5) (1997) and Breaker (v2) (1997) and also used to make Sgt. Stalker (v5) (2004), and General Abernathy (2004).
Zap's arms were shared with Grunt (1982), Hawk (1982), Short-fuze (1982), Snake Eyes (1982), Zap (1982), Grunt (v2) (1983), Stalker (v6) (1997), Grunt (v4) (1997), Short-Fuse (v2) (1997), Snake Eyes (v7) (1997), Zap (v3) (1997), Snake-Eyes (v15) (2003), Snake-Eyes (v16) (2003), Sgt.
